Seattle

The city of Seattle, Washington,  named after Chief Sealth, was built on Elliott Bay in Puget Sound. On the south end of the bay is Alki Point, where the first white settlers arrived in 1851. On the north end is West Point, once a large Shilshole Indian settlement. Puget Sound was named after Peter Puget, a second lieutenant under George Vancouver, who explored this area in 1792.  That's about all I can think of to say about Seattle, because except for its beautiful location and fantastic seafood, it is just another big city with all the draw backs of any large city...traffic, more than its share of homeless people, too few affordable parking spots, etc.

These are some of the more interesting thing I found in Seattle.

This wood carving of a whale is outside a
 woodcarving studio near the waterfront.

I really do love the big horses that pull the carriages
full of tourist through the waterfront area.

The seagulls on the waterfront, especially where people
were eating outside, were greedy little clowns and
lots of fun to watch.

The best views were from the car ferry Princess Marguerite III between Seattle and Vancouver Island
