Lucifer

 
Foliage:         Ribbed matt green leaves
Flower: Smallish flowers, bright red outlined with buttercup yellow 
Variety: Dwarf
Height:   20-24 inches

Lucifer produces masses of rhizomes each year in unusually dense clumps, with numerous flower bearing stems. 

A very old variety, this cultivar is attributed to H. Faiss prior to 1968 but little has been written regarding its origins.


These  flowers resemble the roaring fire of 'you know where'!
